WILMORE — Beginning Wednesday, motorists might want to avoid U.S. 68 near the Kentucky River in Jessamine County for two weeks.
The road will be closed from mile markers 1.0 to 2.0 (west of Ky. 33 and near the Mercer County line) for up to an hour at a time, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said Monday.
The closings will along drilling for cribbing work on U.S. 68, which will shore up the road to prevent failures due to rock slides and slips. The work will be performed daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for two weeks.
Message boards will be in place warning of delays, and flaggers will be at the job site.
The work is subject to change depending on weather conditions and other factors beyond the control of the state Department of Highways.
