This post is late. I wanted to write about this a while back, but with traveling and other things, I didn't manage to. The Baha'i Community put together a float for the Fourth of July parade. THis is our fourth year of participation in this event, and it is fantastic.
We had about 30 participants either riding the float or walking the parade route to
pass out information about the faith. We had friends join us from Frankfort, Berea, Danville and Cincinnati and it was a family event for children and adults to celebrate fun and fellowship together, both during the parade and afterwards at a picnic dinner. We passed out about 5,500 cards to the parade crowd with information about local Baha'i activities and website information for followup. We managed to just miss the worst of the rain and the weather didn't seem to put a damper on the crowd! Our theme was "So
powerful is the light of unity that it can illuminate the whole earth" and our float was selected as this year's winner in the "Best Green Float" category!! You can check out the full list of winners on the www.lexingtonky.gov website under City News - Fourth of July Parade Winners Announced.
