$2 million awarded for small Appalachian businesses

BEREA — The Mountain Association for Community Economic Development has received $2 million in federal stimulus money to help small Appalachian businesses.

U.S. Rep. Ben Chandler, D-Versailles, who announced the funding, said it will be sustainable because it will be used for loans.

"It will be planted, grow, will be given back, and this will help seed another small business," Chandler said.

MACED helps create economic opportunity in Appalachian communities while supporting sustainable use of natural resources.
