Whole lot of grass seed

Published: August 20, 2009

The CentrePointe block, cleared a year ago to make way for a hotel and condominium project that has stalled, is getting grass seed.

On Wednesday, dirt was hauled in to make the downtown block more level, and an irrigation system was installed.

Hydroseeding, which began Wednesday, will take two days. said Ben Linville, owner of Do It All Sodding. The area is being sprayed with a mixture of seed, paper mulch, fertilizer and water. Grass should begin sprouting in about a week, with rye grass the first to come up, Linville said.
