A 31-year-old Salvisa woman who disguised herself as a man and then robbed a Danville bank has been sentenced to three years in prison.
Retta Lerai Dennis was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court in Lexington by U.S. District Judge Joseph Hood, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office.
In March, Dennis pleaded guilty and admitted that she dressed as a man before robbing the Lawrenceburg National Bank Branch on Ben Ali Drive in Danville.
Investigators have said Dennis entered the bank, gave the teller a note saying she had a gun and then fled with about $2,310. Police later recovered Dennis' clothing and the majority of the money.
Becky L. Metcalf, who drove Dennis to and from the bank, was sentenced in June to three years in prison.
Under federal law, Dennis must serve 85 percent of her prison sentence. Once she is released, Dennis will be on probation for three years.
