The Lexington Public Library on Wednesday named 12 members of a search committee that will hire a new chief executive to replace Kathleen Imhoff, who was fired in July after questions arose about her spending of public funds.

The search committee includes library Board of Trustees chairman Larry Smith and members Louis "Buzz" Carmichael and Ling-yuh "Miko" Pattie; advisory board members David Fleenor, Jeremy Horton and Kent Lowe; library employees Wendy Miller and Rebecca Montano-Smith; Jake Gibbs, president of Friends of the Lexington Public Library; Susan Brown, library director at Transylvania University; Guy Huguelet, president of executive search firm G. Alexander & Associates; and attorney Jonathan Weatherby.

Smith, the chairman, said the committee next will hire a search firm, and it hopes to have a short list of candidates to interview by the end of the year.
