The San Francisco 49ers have released veteran wide receiver Brandon Jones.
The 27-year-old Jones played in eight games for the Niners last season, catching one pass for 18 yards. He missed the first half of the season with a slight fracture in his right shoulder, an injury he suffered in a preseason practice.
The Oklahoma product had spent his first four NFL seasons with the Tennessee Titans, who selected him in the third round of the 2005 NFL Draft.

NFL Preseason Preview - Tennessee (1-1) at Carolina (0-2)
The Carolina Panthers will be in search of a much-needed dose of preseason progress on Saturday night, when they welcome the Tennessee Titans to Charlotte in the third warm-up for each team.
The Panthers have struggled on the offensive end in preseason losses to the Ravens (17-12) and Jets (9-3), with zero offensive touchdowns to date. None of Carolina's four quarterbacks have completed as much as 50 percent of their passes, including starter Matt Moore.
Moore, who will be the team's opening day starter barring anything unforeseen, is just 10-of-24 for 89 yards with three sacks absorbed in the preseason, and his 34.9 passer rating is worst on the Panthers. Protection has been an issue for all four QBs, who have been sacked a total of 11 times behind a banged-up offensive line.

Titans sign Gado; waive injured rookie Johnson
The Tennessee Titans have waived/injured rookie running back Stafon Johnson and signed journeyman running back Samkon Gado.
Johnson underwent surgery to repair a dislocated right ankle Sunday less than 24 hours after the undrafted rookie out of Southern California sustained the injury in Saturday's 20-18 preseason loss to Seattle.
The 22-year-old Johnson is no stranger to serious setbacks. He made a miraculous recovery from a devastating weight-room accident last September where a 275-pound barbell fell on his throat, crushing his vocal cords and Adam's apple.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Former Kentucky running back Rafael Little was among four players waived by the Tennessee Titans to reach the NFL roster limit of 75.
The Titans made the announcement Tuesday. The team also waived receiver Dudley Guice, center Matt Lehr and linebacker Tyson Smith. Lehr signed a week ago and did not play in his only preseason game with the Titans.
The Titans gave Little a year to rehabilitate his knee after tearing his left ACL at the 2008 Senior Bowl. But he didn't see much action this preseason after the Titans drafted All-American Javon Ringer out of Michigan State.
Little had four carries for minus 4 yards with one kickoff return for 18 yards.
Little led UK in rushing three straight years from 2005 to 2007. He finished his UK career with 2,996 rushing yards and 5,343 all-purpose yards.
Little signed with Tennessee as an undrafted free agent.
