Fall Festival Guide: A celebration for any occasion

Horses? Check. Ham? Covered. Bourbon? Of course. Arts and crafts? Certainly. Kentuckians love a good festival.

What would fall be without all its colorful festivals? Luckily, Central and Eastern Kentucky are rife with celebrations this time of year.

Autumn is a great season to explore communities throughout the state that you always meant to visit or to join a celebration in your own neighborhood.

Food is the main draw of many festivals, including Marion County Country Ham Days (Sept. 26 and 27 in Lebanon) and the World Chicken Festival (Sept. 24 to 27 in London), where fried chicken is served to the crowds and celebrated with a parade, contests and music.

Other festivals celebrate the bovine (Cow Days, Sept. 18 and 19 in Greensburg), culture (Festival Latino de Lexington, Oct. 10 in Lexington) and music (too many to count).

We've gathered a smorgasbord of festivals where, for the next few weeks, you're sure to find something to savor.
