Laurel Co. toddler's death prompts investigation

Authorities are investigating the death of a 23-month-old Laurel County boy who was dead on arrival Friday morning at St. Joseph - London hospital.

An ambulance picked up the child, Stephen Troy, at his home on Ruby Jones Road in East Bernstadt. Will Callahan, boyfriend of the child's mother, Amanda Troy, called the emergency crew, Laurel County Coroner Doug Bowling said. Amanda Troy was at work when the call was made, he said.

Stephen, who was dead on arrival at the hospital about 9:10 a.m., did not die of sudden infant death syndrome; foul play has not been ruled out, the coroner said.

Destiny Tincher of Vancleve died Saturday morning at University of Kentucky Hospital, the coroner’s office said.
An autopsy is pending.

A 2-year-old girl apparently drowned in a swimming pool in southern Laurel County Monday evening, according to Laurel County Sheriff Fred Yaden's office.
The child has been identified as Chloelynn Collier.
The death happened about 8 p.m. at the home of Chloelynn's grandparents, after her after mother had gone inside the house to prepare dinner, authorities said.

Lexington: Police are -investigating the death of a man who became unresponsive during an altercation at a Lexington home.
An officer responded to a report of a fight at 2961 Waco Road about 4 p.m. Sunday, Lexington police Lt. Chris Vanbrackel said. A man was taken to St. Joseph Hospital, where he died. No charges have been filed.
According to the Fayette County coroner’s office, the victim was 21. Investigators have not released the victim's name. However, Pecola Campbell has identified the man as her son, Roland Campbell.

Kentucky State Police are investigating the death of an 11-year-old girl in Bell County.
A woman called the state police post in Harlan on Saturday saying the girl had been found unresponsive in a closet at a residence in Ferndale in Bell County, state police said in a news release.
The child was taken to Pineville Community Hospital where she was pronounced dead by Bell County Coroner Bill Bisceglia, police said.

The body was taken to the medical examiner's office in Frankfort for an autopsy. In addition to the coroner, Kentucky State Police are investigating the death.
