Two teams from Louisville will go for their third straight state soccer titles this week at Georgetown's Toyota Stadium.

Sacred Heart and St. Xavier come in as two-time defending state champions and are angling for a third.

If the top-ranked Tigers can do it, they will be the first boys' team in state history to win three in a row.

Coach Andy Schulten's Tigers have won eight straight games and have just one loss this season, to city rival Trinity, which was upset earlier in the tournament.

The Tigers, who face Covington Catholic in the semifinals Wednesday night, have scored a tournament-high 109 goals and allowed a tournament-low 10 goals this season.

St. Xavier boasts two 20-goal scorers in Tyler Riggs (26) and Taylor Parker (22).

Covington Catholic has won six straight and is led by sophomore Evan Talkers' 19 goals.

Danville is the lone newcomer in the boys' field, making the first state semifinal appearance in school history. The Admirals have won six straight and will meet Greenwood in the other semifinal match.

Greenwood, which was a state runner-up in 2004, has won four straight.

On the girls' side, the Valkyries will aim for their third straight title behind Lucy Chauvin, who has 16 goals. Nikki Hafele has 10 goals and 14 assists for SHA, which has won seven straight and has lost only one game this season, to fellow semifinalist Notre Dame.

The Valkyries will meet Lexington Catholic, a team they topped 2-1 in late August. The Knights have won 12 in a row.

Notre Dame, which comes into the tournament with the top ranking, has given up one goal in the post-season and has won eight straight. Coach Sara Raaker's Pandas have scored 90 goals and allowed 14, with 16 shutouts.

The Pandas last won this tournament in 2004, and they will meet Daviess County, which has won four in a row and eight of its last nine games.
