The Board of Governors of the Association of Medical Illustrators has selected AMR Management Services, a Lexington-based association management company, to serve as its new headquarters and management partner. AMI is a professional society founded in 1945 in Illinois. Its membership of 700 medical illustrators works in the fields of cutting-edge medicine and science. Tracy Tucker, an eight-year-employee with AMR, will serve as executive director for AMI.
The Bluegrass Business Development Partnership has announced the location of a new high-tech company — Laboratory and BioDiagnostics (LabDx) — to Lexington. LabDx plans to implement technology improvements for the electronic delivery of results from analytical instruments directly to providers' electronic medical records systems, thus eliminating errors and improving speed. LabDx expects to create 65 jobs paying an average annual salary of $50,000. The capital investment will be more than $7 million.
Georgetown Community Hospital has expanded its cancer services with the addition of a chemotherapy infusion suite. The six private infusion rooms each have a television and comfortable seating for the patient and a visitor. The suite is staffed with two RNs experienced in oncology and chemotherapy infusion. Dr. Jim Morgan, an oncologist, will provide medical supervision.
Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation has formed a Commodity Division to expand services to farmers and agribusinesses. It will serve as the organization's liaison to the various agricultural commodity groups and work with KFB's advisory committees that review policies and programs affecting the respective farm commodities. Jeff Harper, commodity division director for the last six years, has been named director of the new division. He will continue to serve as a legislative agent on commodity issues. Joining Harper in the new division are director of market information Ed McQueen, and Kara Keeton, administrator of the Certified Roadside Farm Markets program.
Sayre Christian Village has opened Forest View Apartments, Lexington's newest apartment building for the low-income elderly. The apartments are at 3824 Camelot Drive, off Wilson Downing Road. Christian Benevolent Outreach, the parent organization of Sayre Christian Village, is the sponsor of Forest View. The 42-unit apartment building is in keeping with the Sayre Christian Village mission: A non-profit senior living community dedicated to providing quality housing, rehabilitation services and long-term care reflecting Christian concern for everyone.
