Funeral arrangements have been set for Louis Gill Cobb, who was known around downtown Lexington as "Shoeshine."

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 21, and a service will start at noon at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 511 Thurman Drive.

Burial will be after the service at Highland Memorial Cemetery, 235 East Second Street. Cobb was known for his shoeshine business he conducted downtown and his frequent appearances at Lexington Fayette Urban-County Council meetings. He died Wednesday from unspecified cardiac problems.

He is survived by his mother, Betty J. Beatty, sisters Velma Johnson, Valois Lewis, and Arletta Taylor; and three half brothers Demarus, Ricky and Arthur Cobb. A memorial fund has been set up, and contributions can be made by contacting Taylor at (859) 523-3758.
