Arrest warrant issued for driver in Lexington hit-and-run

Lexington police have issued an arrest warrant for a driver accused of leaving the scene of a car accident that left a man in a coma.

Police are searching for Hector Alviter-Rivera, 23. He faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident and tampering with physical evidence, class D felonies.

Police said Alviter-Rivera was driving a 1999 silver Audi that struck Anthony Gibbs, 24, at 10:10 p.m. Saturday as he tried to cross Nicholasville Road in front of Five Guys Burgers. Gibbs was listed in critical condition on Monday morning.

Officers later recovered the Audi on a dead-end street.
