A Madison County jury found a man guilty Wednesday of second-degree manslaughter in the 2008 shooting death of a Berea man.

David Daugherty of Sand Gap in Jackson County had been charged with murder in the death of Shane Adkins, 34.

The jury recommended a sentence of 10 years, the maximum penalty allowed for a Class C felony, Commonwealth's Attorney David Smith said.

Daugherty shot Adkins during an argument on Dec. 23, 2008, outside a home on Battlefield Parkway near Berea.

Madison Circuit Court Judge William Clouse scheduled sentencing for Jan. 7.
