Boyle man dead after police shoot him

November 26, 2009

A Boyle County man died after a Kentucky State Police trooper shot into his home while trying to serve an arrest warrant, police said.

Trooper Eric Taylor and five members of the Boyle County sheriff's department were serving an arrest warrant at the home of Roger King, 61, about 9:40 p.m. on Forkland Road, police said in a press release.

When King did not answer a knock on the front door, police said, they went around back and peered in the back window. King brandished a gun at them, police said, and Taylor shot King through the window of the back door.

King was pronounced dead at the scene by the Boyle County coroner, police said, and his body was taken to the state medical examiner in Frankfort for an autopsy.

The shooting is under investigation by state police.
