Boy, 3, hit by truck Sunday in Jackson

- aclark@herald-leader.com

A 3-year-old Jackson County boy was flown to University of Kentucky Hospital Sunday after he was hit by a truck.

State police said a Chevy Silverado driven by Jake D. Carpenter of Annville was parked on the street in front of the child's home early Sunday afternoon in Annville. The boy was riding his bicycle, but state police said Carpenter did not see him.

Carpenter began to drive away and felt a bump. He then heard the child's mother scream, state police said.

He got out of his truck and discovered that his truck was on top of the boy's legs, police said. The boy, who was not identified because of his age, was flown to UK with a possible broken leg.
