Arrangements set for slain Perry County doctor

Funeral arrangements have been set for Dennis Sandlin, the Perry County doctor who was shot and killed Tuesday at a at a rural clinic where he'd worked for nearly two decades.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the Maggard's Mountain View Chapel in Hazard. Services will be at 11am Saturday at Maggard's chapel. Burial will be after the service at York-Wooton Cemetery in Buckhorn.

Sandlin, 57, was killed Tuesday at Leatherwood/Blackey Medical Clinic in Cornettsville in Perry County.

John Carles Combs, 46, of Redfox in Knott County pleaded not guilty Wednesday to murder charges in the shooting.

Combs is in the Kentucky River Regional Jail in Hazard under a $10 million cash bond as well as a $1,000 bond on a resisting-arrest charge in Knott County.
