Former University of Kentucky basketball player Derrick Miller pleaded guilty to two felony counts of theft by unlawful taking in Fleming Circuit Court on Monday.

Miller and former University of Kentucky teammate Ed Davender have been accused of running separate scams in multiple counties by taking money from people, promising them UK basketball tickets they did not have available to sell.

Fleming County Commonwealth's Attorney Kathryn Hendrickson said Miller entered an "open" plea, meaning that his guilty plea was not part of a plea agreement.

In November, Miller pleaded guilty in Clark County to two charges of criminal attempt, a misdemeanor. He was sentenced to 360 days in jail.

He also faces charges in Fayette and several other counties.

Also Monday, Davender entered a not guilty plea in Fleming Circuit Court. He faces two felony counts of theft by unlawful taking related to the ticket scam.

Davender has been indicted on 23 counts of theft by deception in Fayette County and three counts of theft by deception in Harrison County.
