Johnson County man indicted on child-porn charges

January 7, 2010

A Johnson County man was indicted Thursday by a federal grand jury in Lexington for possession and distribution of child pornography.

Phillip Cavins, 60, also was indicted for being a felon in possession of firearms.

In May, Cavins allegedly distributed and possessed images that depicted minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

He also was allegedly found with six firearms in his possession.

If convicted, he faces 15 to 40 years in prison on the child pornography distribution charge, 10 to 20 years on the pornography possession charge, and up to 10 years for the firearms charge.
