Police in Florence are looking for three men suspected of setting a fire inside the Meijer store on Houston Road.

Police and firefighters were called to the store about 1:30 a.m. Monday. They helped evacuate the store as heavy smoke came from the front doors and flames were visible inside, near the back of the store.

The case is being investigated as first-degree arson.

Witnesses said they saw three white men walking to the rear of the store, and smoke coming from that area a few minutes later. The men left in a full-size red SUV.

One of the men was between 21 and 23 years old, 6 feet, 3 inches tall with a medium build and brown hair. He was wearing a cotton down jacket and light blue jeans.

The other two men were both about 18 or 19 years old, 6 feet tall with medium builds. One had light brown hair, acne on his face and wore a dark blue hoodie. The other had dark brown hair.

The store was open Monday night, with the exception of the sporting goods section.
