New University of Kentucky football coach Joker Phillips and his wife, Leslie, have bought a house in Lexington's Lakewood neighborhood.

The ranch-style home at 1853 Fielden Drive is convenient to downtown and UK and is just minutes from Commonwealth Stadium.

Purchase price for the house, which was built in the early 1960s and renovated three years ago, was $1.325 million.

The Phillipses bought the house Feb. 4 from Thoroughbred horseman Ben Walden Jr., and his wife, Elaine, who purchased it in 2006.

The Waldens moved to a horse farm they own in Nonesuch in Woodford County, said Whitney Pannell, Realtor for the Phillipses.

Holly Arnold, who lives on Fielden Drive, said that she and her husband, Fred, are UK football fans. "We look forward to, personally, welcoming the Phillipses to the neighborhood," she said.

The Phillipses will be moving from the Glendover neighborhood.

The 5,000-square-foot Fielden Drive house has four bedrooms, three full and two half baths, a media room and walk-out basement. It backs up to the original farm pond in the Lakewood neighborhood. "It's a great house for entertaining," Pannell said.

The house had been on the market seven months. Only recently did the Phillipses see it, and they "liked it immediately," said Pannell, a Realtor with Prudential de Movellan.
