A Nicholasville automotive supplier has told local and state officials it plans to close its facility, leading to the layoffs of 96 workers.

Jackson Plastics, a plastic injection molding company located at 110 Venture Court, plans to close by the end of April, said Wayne Foster, president of the Jessamine County Economic Development Authority.

Foster said the company did not volunteer a reason for the closure. The plant manager did not return a message left Wednesday.

The company opened in Nicholasville in 1995 and had expanded several times over the years.
