PARIS — A Jessamine County man who was charged last year in the beating death of a Carlisle woman has pleaded guilty to charges, according to court records.

Gary T. Stone, 33, of Nicholasville, will be sentenced April 8 in Bourbon Circuit Court on murder, first-degree burglary, first-degree assault and tampering with physical evidence charges. In a plea agreement, prosecutors dismissed a persistent felony offender charge.

Prosecutors recommended that Stone receive life in prison without the possibility of parole for 25 years.

According to court records, on Jan. 17, 2009, Stone unlawfully entered a home on Muir Station Road in Bourbon County to steal weapons that he could sell for drugs. Investigators say Stone went into the living room, and found Pauline Mastin, 43, an overnight guest at the house, sleeping on the couch. Stone hit Mastin in the head with a hammer, court records said.
