A Lexington man involved in a head-on collision that killed a woman in January was arrested Friday on charges of murder and driving under the influence.

Police said Adam Leake, 24, was driving the wrong way on the inner loop of New Circle when he hit a car driven by Connie Layne, 40, on Jan. 19. Police have said he traveled part of the way with his headlights off.

State police served the arrest warrant for Leake on Friday and took him to the Russell County Detention Center.

Lexington Police Lt. Chris Vanbrackel and state police officials said they did not immediately know where Leake had been staying when he was arrested.

Vanbrackel said Lexington officers picked him up from the Russell County jail around 4 p.m.
