A Michigan woman died in a crash between a tractor-trailer and a van Monday on Interstate 75 in Madison County, Kentucky State Police said.

Kimberley Toton-Kozloski, 48, of Sterling Heights, Mich., was pronounced dead at the scene, a police news release said.

Toton-Kozloski was ejected from the van that was struck from behind by a truck driven by Alan Black, 53, of Keavy, Ky., police said.

Joan Kozloski, 22, also of Sterling Heights, Mich., was driving a Ford van that was experiencing mechanical difficulties. The van was traveling about 30 mph when it was struck by the 2011 International tractor-trailer.

Black said he attempted to brake to avoid a collision but was unable to stop.

The crash happened near mile marker 93 at 1:30 a.m. Monday, said Trooper Chris Lanham, spokesman for the Richmond post.

Jenna Kozloski, 20, and Jakob Stinson, 22, along with Joan Kozloski and Black were treated for minor injuries at Pattie A. Clay Hospital in Richmond.

The accident remains under investigation by trooper Robert Purdy.
