Rick Anderkin, editor of the Mt. Vernon Signal, died Wednesday at University of Kentucky Hospital, according to Dowell and Martin Funeral Home, which is handling arrangements.

He was 48.

Mr. Anderson had also served as director of the Kentucky Press Association. He was a member of First Christian Church in Mt. Vernon, the obituary says.

He is survived by his wife, Vonda Anderkin, his son, Aaron Anderkin, and his daughter, Megan Anderkin.

Visitation will be at noon Saturday in the Rockcastle County High School auditorium. A memorial will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the auditorium with burial at Cresthaven Memorial Cemetery.
