A Richmond man faces five counts of first-degree sexual abuse in connection with inappropriate contact with a juvenile, police said.

Michael R. Howard, 52, of Spurlin Trailer Court, was charged Thursday, Richmond police said.

The charges stem from an investigation into a complaint that Howard made improper sexual contact with a juvenile on five occasions between 2007 and 2009.

Howard was taken into custody at the police station and lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.

Jail personnel said Howard has been released on a $1,500 bond.
