More than 2,500 people came out Monday for the annual Bike Lexington festivities, which included a 10-mile family fun ride through downtown and the University of Kentucky campus.

There also were bicycle races, trick-riding demonstrations, a kids' bike safety rodeo and a raffle of bikes from the event's main sponsor, Pedal Power Bike Shop.

Bike Lexington capped a month of bike-related activities. On Saturday and Sunday, nearly 2,000 cyclists from across the country participated in the Bluegrass Cycling Club's 33rd annual Horsey Hundred ride through Scott, Woodford, Bourbon and Fayette counties.

Also throughout May, Lexington companies competed in the bicycle commuter challenge, which attracted nearly 500 rider participants who logged more than 12,000 miles. Participating organizations with the most commuter miles were Bullhorn marketing, UK Libraries, Awesome Inc. and the UK Chemistry Department.
