Kentucky senior running back Derrick Locke suffered a slight crack in the ulna bone in his left forearm during a moped accident this week, UK officials said Friday.

Locke lost control of the moped and suffered the injury trying to regain his balance. He will be in a splint for four weeks and will then be re-evaluated. The injury does not require surgery.

UK opens fall practice in early August. Kentucky's season opener is Sept. 4 at Louisville.

Locke, who ranks 10th on UK's all-time rushing list, is expected to be the Wildcats' starting tailback this season.

He was honored after the 2009 season as an All-Southeastern Conference second-team performer as an all-purpose player.

Locke rushed for 907 yards in 2009, bringing his career total to 1,731. He also caught 31 passes for 284 yards last season. Locke ran for six touchdowns and made two TD receptions. He also averaged 27.4 yards per kickoff return and returned one for a touchdown.
