Homeless man indicted in death of another homeless man

Timothy Scott Meskimen was indicted by a Fayette County grand jury Tuesday in the death of Edgar Hurst, a transient whose body was found April 3 along North Broadway, near Interstate 75.

Meskimen, who is homeless, was indicted on charges of murder, tampering with physical evidence, alcohol intoxication (third or greater offense) and third-degree criminal trespass.

Meskimen, 38, is accused of causing the death of Hurst, 50, by striking him in the head sometime between March 27 and April 3, according to the indictment.

Arraignment for Meskimen was set for June 17 in Fayette Circuit Court. He was being held at the Fayette County jail on a $103,000 full-cash bond.
