Man found dead on Lexington railroad tracks

A man was found dead on Lexington railroad tracks early Tuesday morning after being hit by a train, Lexington police said.

The man was identified Tuesday afternoon as Ronald Potter, 54, of Lexington, according to the Fayette County coroner's office.

Police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said an officer was called to the Norfolk Southern property on South Broadway about 12:30 a.m. The train's operator found Potter's body next to the tracks.

Roberts saidPotter was hit and his body was possibly dragged as far as a quarter-mile.\

Potter died of multiple blunt force trauma, the coroner said.
