    • Plan a safe way home before the festivities begin

    • If you happen to see a drunk driver on the road, don't hesitate to contact your local law enforcement

Lexington police announced a campaign Thursday to crack down on drunken driving for the holiday weekend.

The "Blue Lights Across the Bluegrass" campaign will run from July 1 to July 4.

Police said drunk drivers caused 16 fatalities in Kentucky last year during the July Fourth holiday.

"No matter what you drive — a passenger car, pickup or motorcycle — if you are caught driving impaired, you will be arrested," officer Alvin Cook said in the release.
