University of Kentucky running back Derrick Locke and all-purpose standout Randall Cobb were named to the All-Southeastern Conference first team in pre-season voting by the league's football coaches, it was announced Tuesday.

Kentucky defensive end DeQuin Evans was selected to the second team.

The teams were announced as a prelude to SEC Media Days, which begin Wednesday. Locke, Cobb and Evans will join new head coach Joker Phillips in representing the Wildcats in Hoover, Ala.

Defending SEC and national champion Alabama placed a league-high six representatives on the first team and had nine total selections.

Florida had a league-high 10 total selections, including three on the first team.

Mississippi State and Tennessee were the only schools with no first-team selections.

Tennessee's Luke Stocker, a senior tight end from Madison Southern High School, made the second team.

Locke, a 5-foot-9, 190-pound senior from Hugo, Okla., is 10th on UK's career rushing list with 1,731 yards. He was named a first-team running back along with Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram of Alabama.

In 2009, Locke rushed for 908 yards and six touchdowns and caught 31 passes for 284 yards and two TDs. Locke averaged 27.2 yards on 23 kickoff returns and took one 100 yards for a score.

Cobb, a 5-11, 186-pound junior from Alcoa, Tenn., finished second in the SEC in touchdowns, third in punt returns, fourth in all-purpose yardage and seventh in scoring last season. He was named to the first team as an all-purpose player.

Cobb led UK in 2009 in receiving with 39 catches for 447 yards and four touchdowns. He rushed for 573 yards and 10 touchdowns out of UK's Wildcat formation. He also averaged 26.5 yards on 13 kickoff returns and 12.8 yards on 24 punt returns. He returned one punt for a TD.

Evans, a 6-3, 256-pound senior from Long Beach, Calif., led Kentucky in tackles-for-loss and sacks last season, his first with UK after transferring from a Los Angeles junior college.

Evans started all 13 games in 2009, recording 38 tackles, six sacks and 121/2 tackles-for-loss.

Five players who made the 2009 All-SEC post-season first team were named to this year's pre-season first team: Florida center Mike Pouncey, Georgia wide receiver A.J. Green, Alabama running back Mark Ingram, Alabama defensive back Mark Barron and Georgia punter Drew Butler.

The All-SEC first-team had 10 seniors, 12 juniors and four sophomores. The second team had 17 seniors, 10 juniors and two sophomores.

The second team had more players than the first team because of ties in the voting.
