A 1-year-old child who was hit by a car Wednesday night in Lexington suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said the child was hit by a car that was backing out of a driveway on Moss Creek Drive.

Just before 9:30 p.m., police received a call that a child was walking unsupervised on nearby Monterey Court, Roberts said.

The toddler was taken to the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital and was listed in fair condition, Roberts said.

No charges have been filed, but the investigation is continuing, Roberts said.
