Farmers Market turns 35

The Lexington Farmers Market will celebrate its 35th anniversary with a day-long guided tour of eight local farms and wineries Saturday.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $2 for children under 12. Participating farms are Abigail's, Best Family Farm, Bluegrass Chevre, Chrisman Mill Winery, D & F Farm, Hillside Heritage Farm, Home Pickin's, and Lovers Leap Winery.

The market will take place as usual in Cheapside Park from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a brief anniversary ceremony at 10 a.m.

The Farmers Market, which was founded by former mayor Pam Miller, was established as a private business entity in 1975. For more on the market see www.lexingtonfarmersmarket.com.
