Habitat for Humanity will break ground for a home in memory of Amanda Ross, who was fatally shot last year, on Oct. 10, Ross's birthday, in Lexington.
Former classmates of Ross at Sayre School and other friends have been raising money for the project for several months, and recently someone came forward with a large contribution to fund the remaining amount needed, said Dale Emmons, a spokesman for the Ross family.
Amanda Ross was shot to death in September outside her Lexington home. Her ex-fiancée, former state legislator Steve Nunn, is charged in her death.
