WLEX to add 4 p.m. newscast

WLEX (Channel 18) is adding another newscast to its weekday lineup. Beginning Sept. 7, Lexington's NBC affiliate will debut a 30-minute newscast at 4 p.m.

With the additional news show, WLEX will have six hours of local news programming each weekday. The station also has newscasts at 5 and 6 a.m., noon, and 12:30, 5, 5:30, 6, 7 and 11 p.m.

The 4 p.m. show will focus on the day's big news stories, but it also will have lifestyle and entertainment news, according to a news release.

Kristen Pflum and Devon Patton will co-host the newscast. Dia Davidson will anchor news and health segments, Lee Cruse will do entertainment reporting, and meteorologist Jessica Starr will anchor weather.

The show will also feature audience interaction through WLEX's Facebook page.

The program that has been airing at 4 p.m., The Ellen DeGeneres Show, will move to 2 p.m., and The Rachael Ray Show, which has been at 2, moves to 11 a.m. Inside Edition will air at 4:30 p.m.
