A Clark County football player was listed in critical condition Monday following a Sunday night crash.

Mykal A. Barnes, a wide receiver and defensive back for the Cardinals of George Rogers Clark High School, was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital after Sunday's crash.

Mykal, 17, lost control of a 2005 Nissan Altima he was driving on a slick road and crashed into a rock wall with several mailboxes, said Clark County Sheriff Berl Perdue Jr.

The crash happened after 9 p.m. Sunday on U.S. 60 east of Winchester. Perdue said speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash. Barnes was not wearing a seat belt.
