Bluegrass PRIDE, Chandler announce 18 environmental grants

Eighteen grants totaling more than $50,000 for environmental education programs and workshops were announced Monday by Bluegrass PRIDE and U.S. Rep. Ben Chandler, D-Versailles.

The educator workshop grants were awarded to Garrard County High School, Eastern Kentucky University's Division of Natural Areas and Center for Environmental Education, Powell County Extension Service, and the Bluegrass chapter of Trout Unlimited.

The education grants were awarded to: Girl Scouts of Kentucky's Wilderness Road Council, Estill County Middle School, Estill County 4-H Council, Garrard County High School, Garrard County Conservation District, Eastern Kentucky University, Eastern Kentucky University-University Housing, Berea Community School, Camargo Elementary, Powell County High School, High Adventure Wilderness School, Stanton Elementary and Kentucky Environmental Foundation.

The grants come through the Appalachian Regional Commission.
