Rome pitchers Steven Kent and Willie Kempf combined for a five-hit 1-0 shutout of the Lexington Legends on Friday night at Applebee's Park.

Kent (2-0) struck out six and gave up four hits in five innings in his third start, and Kempf struck out four and allowed one hit in earning his first save. Neither pitcher gave up a walk.

The Braves' Bobby Rauh drove in Jace Whitmer, who opened the top of the fifth inning with a double, for the game's lone run.

Legends pitcher Juan Minaya (4-12) gave up four hits in eight innings while striking out six and walking two.

Before the game, J.R. Towles, a Lexington catcher in 2005 and 2006, was inducted into the Legends Hall of Fame.

Towles batted .346 with five homers and 23 RBI in 45 games in 2005, and .317 with 12 homers and 55 RBI in 81 games in 2006. He made his major-league debut with Houston in 2007.
