Kentucky quarterback Mike Hartline has been added to the watch list for the Manning Award, the Allstate Sugar Bowl announced Tuesday. The award is presented to the nation's top quarterback.
Hartline has completed 184 of 273 passes with 2,144 yards, 17 touchdowns and four interceptions. The senior from Canton, Ohio, is completing almost 70 percent of his passes, leads the Southeastern Conference in touchdown passes and is second in passing yardage.
The list started with 33 quarterbacks to watch in the pre-season, and Hartline was one of 10 additions, including Auburn's Cam Newton and South Carolina's Stephen Garcia. Ten finalists will be determined by a panel of national media covering college football, Archie Manning and his sons, Peyton and Eli. That list will be released Nov. 29, and the winner will be announced Jan. 19.
This will be the seventh year for the award. Last year's winner was Texas' Colt McCoy, the winningest quarterback in college football history.
