A persistent felony offender escaped Saturday night from the minimum-security Blackburn Correctional Complex in Lexington. Elton James McCawley, 36, of Warren County was reported missing at 8:56 p.m., prison spokeswoman Erica Greene said. The prison is not surrounded by a fence. McCawley was serving a 20-year sentence for robbery, burglary, theft and being a persistent felony offender. He was convicted in 2009 and due for parole review in 2012. Anyone with information about McCawley's whereabouts is encouraged to call Lexington police or the Kentucky State Police, Greene said.
