■ Here's a place to get a free meal while helping others. Versailles Presbyterian Church, 130 North Main Street, will serve a free community Christmas dinner from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Meals are available to eat in or take out, or volunteers will deliver to shut-ins, including Woodford County Meals on Wheels clients and on-duty local emergency workers. Volunteers are needed to help serve and deliver meals.

"The purpose of this dinner is twofold," Lois Gaines said. "Not only does it serve people who need a good meal on Christmas Day, but it also helps those volunteers who may be alone or have suffered a loss or personal crisis during the year and just need to do something different on what can be a difficult day."

Contact Gaines at (859) 873-2199 or lfgaines@windstream.net, or Melissa Bane Sevier at (859) 321-3568 or melissa@vpc1.org.
