Lexington mayor-elect Jim Gray announced more appointments in his administration Wednesday, with Janet Graham as commissioner of law and Bob Ramsey as commissioner of general services.

Graham, a graduate of the University of Kentucky law school, has served eight years in Frankfort as assistant deputy attorney general. Before that, she was in private practice with Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs.

Ramsey returns to a familiar job, having served five years as commissioner of general services under Mayor Pam Miller.

Former 9th District council member Jennifer Mossotti, a realtor, will be senior adviser for community and council relations. Mossotti was Gray's political director during his campaign for mayor.

Geoff Reed will serve as the mayor's senior adviser for policy and government relations. Reed has spent the past seven years as a policy adviser and field director for U.S. Rep. Ben Chandler of Versailles.

Gray said he was acting very deliberately in making appointments because his administration was inheriting some tough challenges. More announcements are anticipated in the next few weeks.

Asked what problems he was inheriting, Gray noted the city's medical health insurance plan that has run at a deficit for several years.
