Girls

Republic Bank Classic consolation games

■ Makayla Epps scored 37 points, including a game-tying three-pointer to send Marion County's game against Boone County to overtime, but it was the Lady Rebels' Sydney Moss who ended up stealing the show. Moss, the daughter of NFL star Randy Moss, hit the free throws that put her team ahead for good, made the game-clinching steal, and finished with 24 points, 21 rebounds and six assists in Boone County's 71-69 victory. Stacie Shrout added 15 points and eight assists for the Lady Rebels, who outrebounded Marion County 45-27 to help them overcome 24 turnovers. Marion County, ranked No. 1 in the pre-season, got 10 points and 13 rebounds from Kyvin Goodin-Rodgers. Epps, the daughter of former Kentucky star Anthony Epps, also had six steals.

■ Hannah Thiem hit the game-winner with 59 seconds left that lifted Newport Central Catholic to a 46-44 victory against host Lexington Catholic. The Lady Knights had trailed 42-36 before an 8-0 run gave them the lead with just over 2 minutes to play. Nicole Kieman, whose basket tied it at 44 apiece, led the Thoroughbreds with 20 points and eight rebounds. Thiem scored 13. Alex Botkin led Lexington Catholic with 18 points and Emily Johns had eight points and 12 rebounds.

■ Abby Jump hit three three-pointers and scored 11 points to lead Ryle past Franklin County 38-35. Dawn Johnson added 12 rebounds and six assists for the Lady Raiders, and Ashli Mays had 15 points and six rebounds for the Lady Flyers.

■ Kendall Noble scored 35 points and had 10 rebounds, six assists and three steals in Perry County Central's 74-58 win against Anderson County. Kayla Rankin added 28 points and seven rebounds for the Lady Commodores.

iHigh Fayette Co. Frenzy consolation games

■ Shomari Kendrick had a double-double — 14 points and 10 rebounds — and Mackenzie Graham had 11 points, six rebounds and four assists in Lafayette's 54-41 defeat of Henry Clay. The Blue Devils were led by Candace Morton, who had 18 points and nine rebounds.

Paul Dunbar forced 39 turnovers and had 17 steals in an 85-51 rout of Holmes. Morgan McEldowney and Lakeena Parks scored 16 points apiece for Dunbar. Parks had 11 rebounds and McEldowney had nine. Christin Haney added 11 points, seven assists and a team-high five steals.

■ Carla Booth scored 17 points to go with eight rebounds, five assists and three steals in Sheldon Clark's 44-31 win against Pike County Central.

■ Lexi Whaley scored a game-high 15 points for Tates Creek in a 62-40 victory against Presentation.

Elsewhere

■ Sydni Wainscott, the player of the year in the 8th Region last season, scored a career-high 41 points in Simon Kenton's 67-53 victory against Scott in the Kenton County Classic.

Boys

iHigh Fayette Co. Frenzy consolation games

West Jessamine never trailed, rolling to a 72-55 defeat of Lafayette. The Colts' Dylan Pohl had 16 points, Bradley Strait had 15 points and seven rebounds, and Brandon Hager scored 14 points to go with four assists. Jackson Davis had 18 points, eight rebounds and six blocked shots for the Generals.

■ Larry Morton led a balanced attack with 15 points and seven rebounds in Bryan Station's 61-47 win against Paul Dunbar. Marcus Williams pitched in with 11 points, eight rebounds and four steals. Lamont Jackson had 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs.

Tates Creek jumped out to a 21-7 lead at halftime and pounded Clay County in the third quarter 19-6 en route to a 53-24 victory. Marcellus Barksdale had 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Commodores.

Elsewhere

■ Pre-season No. 1 Jeffersontown defeated No. 2 Eastern 69-61 in the finals of the King of the Bluegrass tournament at Fairdale.

Lexington Christian jumped out to a 17-6 lead after the first quarter and led by as many as 21 points in a 61-47 victory against Woodford County in the Capitol City Invitational. Taylor Barnette scored a team-high 13 points and had five assists for the Eagles. Patrick Nickodem and Tyler Harvilee added 11 apiece. Jay Johnson led the Yellow Jackets with 21 points and 16 rebounds.

■ Dakota Taylor hit four three-pointers in the fourth quarter and Danville rallied from a 10-point deficit to defeat DeSales 68-65 in the Fort Harrod Tournament at Mercer County. Taylor scored 26 points and Heath Mountjoy had 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Covington Catholic connected on 63 percent of its shots (35-for-55) in an 82-48 victory against visiting Campbell County. Jake Thelen led the way with 28 points and five rebounds, and Drew Barker had 18 points and nine rebounds.

■ Freshman guard Ralph Stone hit a three-pointer from the top of the key with 1.7 seconds left in regulation to keep Collins alive and the Titans went on to defeat Valley 81-79 in double overtime. Tavis Elzy added a double-double for Collins with 21 points and 14 rebounds.

■ Matt Fudge hit five three-pointers and scored 21 points to lead Adair County past Washington County in the First & Farmers Bank/Lindsey Wilson Classic. Will Pardom had 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Commanders.

■ Matt Day, a 6-foot-7 junior, hit 15 of his 20 shots, finishing with 34 points and nine rebounds in Buckhorn's 74-47 win against Cordia in the Buckhorn Invitational.
