Davis to visit U of L but still committed to UK, dad says

December 24, 2010

The father of University of Kentucky recruit Jon Davis said on Thursday night that his son is still committed to the Wildcats. But Davis will take an unofficial visit to the University of Louisville in January.

"He's just going to check it out," Reggie Davis said. "I don't think he's going to learn anything new, but it's a family rule that once we start something, we stick it out. We don't want Jon getting into his sophomore year and talking about transferring because he didn't have all the information he needed to have."

It was a good week for Louisville Coach Charlie Strong. He secured a commitment from five-star quarterback Teddy Bridgewater out of Miami and then led the Cards to a 31-28 win over Southern Miss in the Beef O' Brady's Bowl.

When asked about the possibility of his son switching his commitment from UK to U of L, Reggie Davis said, "This is really just a confirmation activity. It's like when you get a car. You say to yourself, 'I like this car, I'm committed to this car, but you go out and test drive a couple of other cars just to be sure. Usually you end up coming back to that first car.

"Jon visited Oregon, and they couldn't sway him. So I'd imagine it's going to be tough for Louisville."
