Midway College gets initial approval for pharmacy program

gkocher1@herald-leader.comJanuary 3, 2011

Midway College has received approval to offer a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

The SACS accreditation is one of two accrediting processes necessary for the Midway College School of Pharmacy to become fully accredited. The other is by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). Midway's accreditation from ACPE is under review, and the process will continue into 2011.

Midway announced in January 2010 plans to open a School of Pharmacy in Paintsville. The pharmacy school plans to enroll its first class in the fall of 2011.
