High school basketball highlights: Jan. 18

Boys

■ It took six overtimes before Estill County finally finished off visiting Bourbon County 102-99. Cade Berryman, a senior guard for the Engineers, scored 40 points. He was 10-for-21 from the field and 20-for-31 from the free-throw line. Brandon Morris added 22 points for Estill County. The Colonels' Chris Gillespie hit six three-pointers to account for 18 of his 51 points.

■ Senior guard Kyle Hopper hit a driving layup with two seconds left to give host Wayne County (16-1) a 54-52 victory over McCreary Central. Senior guard Jacob Dixon had 26 points and 15 rebounds for McCreary Central (9-7).

■ Senior center Donny Cheetum scored 15 points — including the 1,000th of his career — and Lloyd Memorial (10-6) cruised to an 87-26 win over Heritage (0-9) in the 9th Region All "A" Classic at Newport Catholic.

■ Fifteen players scored for Covington Holy Cross in an 81-39 rout of Dayton in the 9th Region All "A" Classic at Newport Catholic.

■ Senior forward Matthew Taylor had 13 points and 13 rebounds to lead host Corbin (12-4) to a 65-56 win over South Laurel (9-8).

Girls

■ Eighth-grader Gabby Bowie scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead host Sayre (12-2) to a 58-37 win over Madison Southern (4-8). Maddie Mitchell and Bea Cameron added 15 and 14 points, respectively, for the Lady Spartans. The Eagles got 14 points and 14 rebounds from Tosha Boggs.

■ Junior forward Devin Napier's 11 points and 13 rebounds helped Garrard County (6-4) beat visiting West Jessamine 52-27. Senior forward Sarah Currey led West Jessamine (4-11) with eight points.

■ Junior forward Malesha Hughes had 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Monticello (8-9) rolled to a 45-27 win over Burgin (6-8) in the 12th Region All "A" Classic at Danville.

■ Freshman point guard Rachel Potter scored a game-high 29 points and also broke Pikeville's record for assists in a game with 14 in a 67-49 win at Allen Central.

■ Senior guard Tori Wilhoit scored her 1,500th career point in host Williamstown's 34-26 victory over Villa Madonna (7-9). Wilhoit had 14 points and 17 rebounds for Williamstown (8-11).

■ Junior guard Lauren Little, just 5-foot-5, had 17 rebounds for Leslie County (10-6) in a 69-44 win at Lee County (5-8).

■ Junior guard Hannah Devine had 35 points and 10 rebounds, and host Carroll County (12-6) held on for a 68-62 win over Cooper (8-10).

■ Jillnell Bevins scored a game-high 24 points in Belfry's 66-51 victory at Tug Valley (W.Va.).
