Published: February 21, 2011

Idrees Kahloon, a junior at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Lexington, is one of 14 students from around the country competing in the two-week Jeopardy! Teen Tournament, which runs through March 2.

Idrees makes his debut on Jeopardy! on Tuesday; the quiz show is broadcast at 7:30 p.m. weeknights on WKYT (Channel 27).

Idrees can't reveal how he finished on Jeopardy! until after the show airs. The tournament was taped in December in California. The grand prize is $75,000. The runner-up gets at least $50,000, and the third-place finisher receives at least $25,000. Semifinalists get $10,000, and contestants eliminated in the first round receive $5,000 each.

Idrees is captain of Dunbar's academic team and president of the Dunbar Culture Society.
