What went right and wrong for UK in Sunday's game

March 28, 2011

Thumbs up: Hats off to Coach John Calipari and his staff. Put to rest any notions that he is a great recruiter and a so-so coach. This is a Kentucky team with no true threat in the post, but Calipari used six players to find and exploit the flaws in the opponent. The game plans worked.

Thumbs up: Maybe you do learn from losing. The team that could not close out games against the likes of Arkansas and Mississippi finished tourney games with confidence and poise. Carolina tied it at 67 with 3:18 left. UK sent the Powder Blue boys home with a 9-2 run.

Thumbs down: We only get to watch Josh Harrellson play one or two more times.

Thumbs up: UK fans have moaned for years about the Cats' inability to shoot from outside. This team has a chance to be UK's best three-point shooting team. The numbers against Carolina? Outsized UK outscored Carolina 36-9 from three-point land.
